Route of Rith 2010

What route will Rith 2010 take?

Rith 2010 will kick-off in Belfast on 9th March 2010. After the opening speeches, the baton will be opened and a message of support for the Irish language will be inserted. The baton will then be passed to the lead runner of the first kilometre and the trip will begin...

The baton will be carried around Ireland for nine days, running from morning to night, covering a trip of 1600km passing through more than 250 towns and villages in 15 counties. The road run will finish each night at Club Rith, a social function on a location on the course. The run continues inside though, as we will be setting up threadmills to allow us to virtually complete the nighttime section of the 1600km course. The Club Rith section of the ruhn are highlighted in each county listing and are coloured blue on the embedded map. The road run, in effect, is made up of 9 seperate stages, with a morning start and a late evening finish in most cases. Rith 2010 will finish on Saint Patrick's Day in Galway City.

If Rith 2010 is not going through your town...

Don't worry, your school or group can still take part by organising a mini Rith in your own area or by sponsoring a section of the Rith course and organising a tour there to get a taste of the first ever Rith ar son na Gaeilge!
