10 days - 7 days - 5 days - Hop On, Hop Off

Extreme Ireland and Rith 2010 have teamed up to offer exciting holiday package full of energy and the Irish "craic". These package tours will bring you around Ireland, travelling on comfortable buses with groups of up to 16 fellow travellers

From Tuesday 9-17 March: Each day you will have the opportunity to follow the baton and run alongside it. When you are not running we will be visiting historical sites, seeing magnificent countryside and learning about our folklore and everything that it is to be Irish. For each holiday that is booked with us 10% of the tour price will be donated towards the festival and the promotion of the Irish language and culture.

This festival has been run in the Basque region and Brittany for the last 20 years and has been tremendously successful at promoting their cultures. We hope the same will happen for us. From people who would like an active holiday, for those who have an affinity with Ireland and would like to learn more, for those who want a cultural holiday, for those who want to see the beautiful countryside that we can offer, this holiday is open to everyone! Whether you are travelling solo or you have a group, Extreme Ireland will be able to cater for you.

This holiday will only happen every two years so be the first to join in! In the run up to Saint Patrick's Day, a seven day programme of events celebrating Irish language and culture will be the back-drop of an amazing event. Rith 2010 ("Rith" is the Gaelic word for "run", pronounced ri) will begin on March 10th 2010 and will witness the start of a 1600km run around Ireland in a celebration of Irish culture. Rith 2010 will focus celebrations and community participation along a set route that will cross 15 counties and 250 towns and villages in Ireland. Running non-stop, day and night, Rith 2010 will start in Belfast on the 9th March 2010 and will culminate in a grand finale on St. Patrick's Day in Galway City.

As a key event in Seachtain Na Gaeilge, you can choose from a full programme of events, celebrating the Irish language and culture in every village, town and city along the route. We will be running with a hand-designed hollow baton which will change hands every kilometre. The baton will be carried by groups from schools, youth clubs, sports clubs, athletes or indeed anybody who wants to join in! In the hollow baton will be a message that will not be seen until the end of Rith 2010 on 17 March, St. Patrick's Day, when the message will be read out to the public. Thousands of people will take part with schools and community groups around Ireland running in their own areas or organising celebratory events in the various towns when Rith 2010 goes through their community.

This is an amazing opportunity to experience what Ireland has to offer at its best. You will get to travel and visit some of the most beautiful places in Ireland. Extreme Ireland is proud to be a partner with Rith in offering holidays for you to come and experience Ireland at its best. You will have the option to have this tour guided in Irish. We will also be organising classes for those who wish to learn or improve their Irish on the way around.
